The Memory & Chapters system helps you navigate and remember key moments in long conversations. It automatically organizes your chat into chapters, captures important events as memory cards, and creates summaries for context.
Overview
As your conversations grow, WarmLoop intelligently:
- • Detects chapter breaks at natural story transitions
- • Captures key events as memory cards you can reference
- • Generates summaries to maintain context over time
- • Enables navigation through long conversations
Chapters
What Are Chapters?
Chapters are automatically detected segments of your conversation, typically spanning 20-50 messages. They mark natural breaks in the narrative flow.
How Chapters Work
The AI analyzes your conversation for:
- • Scene transitions and location changes
- • Time skips or pacing shifts
- • Major plot developments or revelations
- • Resolution of story arcs
- • Introduction of new characters
- • Shifts in conversation focus or tone
Chapter Structure
Each chapter includes:
- • Title: Engaging summary of the chapter's content
- • Summary: Brief description of what happens
- • Status: Open (ongoing) or closed (complete)
- • Memory Cards: Key events that occurred
Navigating Chapters
When you have 10+ messages in a chat:
- • A book icon appears when you scroll up
- • Click it to open the Chapter Navigation overlay
- • View all chapters with summaries
- • Click "Go to chapter" to jump directly to that point
- • The current/active chapter is marked in green
Regenerating Chapters
If chapters seem incorrect or outdated:
- • Open Chapter Navigation (book icon)
- • Click the refresh icon
- • Existing chapters will be cleared
- • Analysis begins in the background
- • You'll be notified when new chapters are ready
Note: Chapter regeneration can take time depending on conversation length. The process runs asynchronously, allowing you to continue chatting while analysis happens.
Memory Cards
What Are Memory Cards?
Memory cards capture critical plot points and events in your story. They're like bookmarks for important moments you might want to reference later.

What Makes a Good Memory Card?
Focus on events that:
- • Start major plot threads or quests
- • Reveal critical information (identities, purposes, weaknesses)
- • Change the situation fundamentally (alliances, victories, discoveries)
- • Mark decisive turning points in the story
- • Resolve important story arcs
Avoid capturing:
- • Routine conversations
- • Minor character interactions
- • Emotional reactions without consequences
- • Procedural actions (walking, looking)
Summaries
Periodic Summaries
Every 25 messages, WarmLoop generates a cumulative summary that includes:
- • All events from the conversation start
- • Key plot developments
- • Character interactions
- • Current story state
How Summaries Help
- • Maintain context in very long conversations
- • Provide quick recaps when returning
- • Help the AI understand the full story arc
Summary Invalidation
Summaries automatically update when you:
- • Edit previous messages
- • Delete messages
- • Restart the conversation
This ensures summaries always reflect your actual conversation.
Best Practices
For Long Conversations
- • Let chapters generate naturally (don't force regeneration too often)
- • Add personal memory cards for moments important to you
- • Use chapter navigation to jump between story sections
- • Reference memory cards when you need to recall events
For Content Creators
- • Write clear scene transitions to help chapter detection
- • Include memorable events that work as memory cards
- • Use WarmScript variables to create dynamic chapter titles
- • Design scenarios with natural breaking points
Managing Memory Cards
- • Keep titles concise but descriptive
- • Write summaries in second person ("You discover...")
- • Include relevant character names
- • Focus on plot impact, not just actions
- • Edit AI cards to better match your perspective
